Penalty for Rayo Vallecano after just over 2 minutes played... Adrian charges out and catches the player instead of the ball, Piti puts in the back of the net... Adrian was on it, but couldn't keep it out.. 1-0 for Rayo.. :(

well, earlier in the season Betis always seemed a better team when going down a goal, lets hope they can reproduce some of the good play from the first half of the season today! :)

Betis look confused in the attacking half, and are lucky to only be down 1 goal after Trashorras very nearly curled into the top corner.

Finally Betis get an incisive pass, Ruben got behind the defense but dragged his shot just wide.
Campbell also had a nice run, but a wasteful shot went nowhere close.

Betis are weathering an intense spell of pressure here, they haven't gotten a hold of the ball for the last 10 minutes it seems. Third corner for Rayo is dangerous but parried by Adrian for a fourth.

I might be on my own here, but I thought that apart from the Adrian mistake it was a pretty even half. Expect space to open up as both sides tire.

Must admit I like Rayo - they are unfashionable and unfussy; they work hard and close players down to win the ball. Sometimes there have been 3 or 4 of them around a Betis player and when they get the ball they break quickly. Any other time this season we'd definitely be more in the game; obviously just getting over the cup matches I guess. Still plenty of time second half !
